The Canon PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Inkjet Printer is the quintessential tool for the professional photographer that gives you the ability to print the images you captured with your Canon EOS Digital SLR, exactly as you envisioned it. The 12 LUCIA pigment ink system expands the color gamut with improved saturation of colors and darker, deeper blacks which allows the professional photographer to achieve new levels of skin tone reproduction, accuracy and quality, so your prints exhibit stunning detail. Five monochrome inks raise your level of professional print quality when creating the dramatic expression of grayscale photography. Additionally, these new inks are approximately 2.5 times larger than conventional ink tanks. To further increase your workflow, the built-in Ethernet connection allows multiple users to seamlessly print from several networked computers in any environment. For media support, the PIXMA PRO-1 proudly supports two-way paper feeding and professional photo printing on a variety of Fine Art and Glossy Photo Papers each with specific characteristics to meet your dynamic photo printing needs.

FINE Technology

The PIXMA PRO-1 print head incorporates canon's Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE). It features a patented print head that enables printing with microscopic droplets and high resolution up to 4800 x 2400 dpi. The ink droplets can be placed with a minimum pitch of 1/4800 inch. The FINE print head institutes a tubular ink delivery system. This generates faster print speeds and reduces the possibility of clogging. 12 inks with 12 tubes means your time and ink will be saved for printing. Without the weight of the inks on the print head, print speed for both color and grayscale photographs dramatically increased to almost twice as fast as previous PIXMA Pro models.

Expand your Color Possibilities

The Canon PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Inkjet Printer features a completely new ink system to help professionals achieve gallery-quality results. This new system features 12 inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Red, Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta, Photo Black, Matte Black, Gray, Dark Gray, Light Gray and Chroma Optimizer) which help to increase the color gamut in all directions when compared to other similar models currently in the market. Additionally, skin-tone reproduction has been improved to provide a more natural look, eliminating the magenta cast occasionally found when printing portraits. The 12 color LUCIA Pigment Ink system expands the color gamut with improved saturation of colors and darker, deeper blacks. This system allows the professional photographer to achieve new levels of skin tone reproduction, accuracy and quality, so your prints exhibit stunning detail. The 12 LUCIA Pigment Inks also assist in reproducing the vibrant colors of life captured by Canon's well respected EOS Digital SLR cameras.

Enhanced Black Densities

Many professional photographers judge the overall effectiveness and ability of an inkjet printer based upon the output for a black-and-white image. To achieve the desired results for a deeper, richer, truer black creation, the engineers of the Canon PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Inkjet Printer have incorporated five monochrome inks into the ink system. Utilizing the Photo Black, Matte Black, Gray, Dark Gray and Light Gray inks, photographers will experience smooth gradations, suppressed graininess and a reduction in the bronzing and metamerism phenomenon which shows a metallic luster such as iridescence due to the colors in reflected light. The Light Gray ink is especially effective in helping to suppress the grain in highlights. The gray monochrome inks are useful in creating a neutral print, allowing for improved accuracy to the way the image was originally captured helping to reduce the need for extensive editing. These inks deliver enhanced, deep black density to raise your level of professional print quality when creating the dramatic expression of grayscale photography. The premium LUCIA monochrome inks work together to reduce the effect of bronzing. As a result, your printed photos will have expanded dynamic range, especially in the darker or shadow areas of the image.

Larger Ink Tanks, Streamlined Workflow

For the first time the PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Inkjet Printer will feature a tubular ink delivery system, with the inks housed on the sides of the printer, helping to improve the print speed when compared to existing PIXMA Pro models. With this new system, the PIXMA PRO-1 Printer can produce a 13 x 19" sized print in approximately four minutes and 20 seconds on Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum, helping to increase the productivity in any photography studio. The printer also features larger ink tanks than any other PIXMA Pro printer model to date. When compared to the tanks used by existing models, these new ink tanks are 2.5 times larger. This incredible increase can decrease the amount of time users have to interact with the printer and replace the ink tanks. The new PGI-29 LUCIA Pigment Inks are approximately 155% larger than previous Canon PIXMA Pro Printer ink tanks, and almost 40% larger than the ink tanks used by select competitors. Larger individual ink tanks provide greater value as less time is required replacing inks, that way more time can be spent printing.

Uniform Ink Height

As part of the overall ink system, a Chroma Optimizer has been included to aid in the accuracy and quality of prints. In addition to increasing the color gamut, the Chroma Optimizer further increases the black density when printing on glossy media types for a deeper, darker black. After the ink is laid down on the media, the printer applies the Chroma Optimizer to help eliminate the bumps between droplets that at times can reflect light irregularly, resulting in a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing print. The Chroma Optimizer brings uniform ink height over the printed image and regulates surface reflection. This maintains the natural color and integrity of your printed photos. Another important facet of printing is the overall lifespan of the print. Based upon independent testing conducted by Wilhelm Imaging Research, the expected light fastness of a print using the PIXMA PRO-1 Printer with Canon’s semi-gloss media is approximately 70 years.

Optimum Analysis and Mixture of Color

The Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System utilizes two major technologies implemented in the PIXMA PRO-1. The first is a sophisticated mixing balance of inks determined from numerous ink combinations and advanced analysis. During this analysis, the OIG System carefully calculates the best results for each print mode and paper type used while looking at various image factors including color reproduction, tonal gradations, black density, low graininess, glossiness, anti-bronzing and anti-metamerism. These critical ink balancing principles are derived from Canon's expertise in imaging technology, as well as the familiar colors of life that people see and remember on a daily basis. The second is the balancing of color reproduction, tonal gradations, and uniform glossiness. The genius and power of the OIG System is truly showcased when your image is printed, exhibited, and is seen exactly as you envisioned it.

Software

This powerful Easy-PhotoPrint Pro2 plug-in software provides professional photographers effective printing solutions and can directly hand-over image data. Conveniently print onto your printable CD, DVD or Blu-ray Discs and jackets with the built-in CD and DVD printing. Tasks like print-size settings, printing multiple pages, and color management settings are now simplified to help maximize your workflow, while the original colors found in Canon EOS Digital SLRs are faithfully reproduced. Easy-PhotoPrint Pro is compatible with Digital Photo Professional (ver 2.1 or later), Adobe® Photoshop® CS, Adobe® Photoshop Elements®, and Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®.

Enable ICC Profile: This setting faithfully prints to the characteristics of various media and the Picture Style of Portrait and Landscape. It also prints images in the Adobe® RGB (1998) color space through the use of Easy-PhotoPrint Pro.
Linear Tone: This mode prints the image in its truest form.
Photo Color: This mode prints an improved and adjusted image by enhancing colors based on color memory.

Versatile Paper Handling

To help improve the overall efficiency and workflow of the PIXMA PRO-1 Printer, an intuitive paper feed has been included with a dual paper path on the top rear of the printer for semi-gloss and glossy media and a manual paper feed on the back for fine art media. This feeding system will help to ensure paper is initially fed correctly thus eliminating skewed prints which results in wasted ink, paper and more importantly time. The two-way paper feeding provides a rear tray for most supported media types and a dedicated manual feed in the back of the printer for easy loading of thicker papers.
